Best Time to Visit Qatar

Geographical location

Qatar is located on the Arabian Peninsula on the Persian Gulf. The emirate borders only on Saudi Arabia, in the north-west lies the Bahrain peninsula.

The capital of the country ruled by Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani is Doha in the east of the country.

About 2.2 million people live on an area of 7200 square miles, which results in a population density of about 186 inhabitants per square kilometre.

Apart from salt marshes and desert strips, Qatar has little to offer topographically. The country’s main source of income is oil trading. This has given Qatar great wealth since the 1960s and has enabled it to refinance the necessary import of countless goods through the lack of agriculture in the country.

Qatar is a fast-growing, up-and-coming emirate. The skyline of Doha on the Persian Gulf is constantly being complemented by new skyscrapers, and luxurious hotels are increasingly courting privately traveling tourists in the country.

Climate in Qatar

Due to the small size of Qatar, the conditions in Qatar are very uniform and can be described as primarily sultry-hot, subtropical climate. Temperatures rise in the course of the year from around 22 °C at the beginning of the year to up to 42 °C in the summer months of June, July and August. Peak values of over 45 °C are not uncommon on particularly hot days.

The air humidity is up to 85 percent, but is somewhat reduced by the rather dry pubic passat wind. From September to December, temperatures drop to around 24 °C. Only in the months October to May it can come to isolated precipitation. However, even in the rainy month of February, the average rainfall is only 0.67 in.

Qatar is one of the driest areas on earth, the high temperatures make the short shower evaporate very quickly anyway. In the winter months, temperatures can cool down to more comfortable levels of around 15 °C.
