Lanzarote is the fourth largest island of the Canary Islands and lies in the Atlantic Ocean. The volcanic island is home to about 142,132 inhabitants, the capital is Arrecife in the east of the island.
Lanzarote covers an area of over 530 square miles and is divided into seven regions. The metropolitan region around the capital Arrecife is the economic centre of the island, where there is a large port.
Lanzarote was declared a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve in 1993. The Spanish island lies north of Fuerteventura and thus forms the northern end of the Canary Islands. Lanzarote is about 62 miles from Morocco.
Climate of Lanzarote
As on all Canary Islands, Lanzarote has a subtropical climate, which is characterized by very low rainfall. The continual north-east trade wind regularly creates winds and clouds, which, however, rarely rain due to their geographical, rather flat nature. The annual precipitation is less than 4.72 in. At altitudes of 700 metres and above, precipitation of up to 11.81 in per year is possible.
Most rainfall occurs between December and February, but it remains very manageable. Year-round mild temperatures characterize Lanzarote. In winter temperatures drop to just under 20 °C, in summer they rise up to 30 °C. The average annual temperature is around 20 °C. From July to October, the warmest temperatures are between 27 °C to 29 °C.

When to travel to Lanzarote?
It is not without reason that the Canary Islands are called the”islands of eternal spring”. Lanzarote is a true year-round destination and, together with the other Canary Islands, is also a popular refuge for sun-seekers in winter. It is dry all year round, most rain falls between December and February, but even these months are by no means considered rainy with a maximum precipitation of 2.05 in.
As the best time to travel on Tenerife we recommend the summer months, in which you can enjoy up to 11 hours of sun a day and fantastic weather. The season starts around May, ideally from mid-June to the end of October. The Atlantic Ocean is still refreshing from June to mid-November at 20 °C to 22 °C, but can be used for swimming.

Lanzarote: Experiences of our Visitors
Constant change between rain, sun and clouds. (Sun was predominant, however) The wind was quite fresh but about 20 degrees quite pleasant. Not really bathing weather, but okay for trips.
Weather Rating: 4 stars – Good
horny warm and rarely violent stormy highly recommended
good old germany is too cold
Weather Rating: 5 stars – Excellent
The weather was very good a day of rain but only half an hour and then sun again. It had rained a few times at night, but you sleep there anyway.
Weather Rating: 4 stars – Good
Warm, daily 24-26 degrees but very very windy!
Weather Rating: 4 stars – Good
Despite 2-3 rainy days a wonderfully mild climate, one could still walk in the evening in a T-shirt. Also 2-3 days of quite strong wind, which makes the red flag on the beach erorerlich. Swimming in the sea is still very pleasant!
Weather Rating: 4 stars – Good
